SQL*Plus BREAK Command

The command BREAK determines:

- Dividing lines into sections and suppressing duplicate values;

- Insert a blank line every time the value of a column data changes;

- Display values calculated by the COMPUTE command to change the value of a column or at the end of the report.

Helping to ensure proper to this command, it is appropriate to use the ORDER BY clause to sort the columns after whose values do grouping.

ON Clause may appear multiple times in a command BREAK.

Each command BREAK new one replaces the previous one. For the suppression of an ESTATE, use CLEAR BREAKS.

ON ROW specifies actions to be executed by SQL * Plus when a SELECT statement returns a line.

ON REPORT marks the location of the report on which the SQL * Plus will perform the calculations specified in the COMPUTE command. This clause is used to calculate the totals or other values.

SKIING [P] n inserts n blank lines before printing the line which has occurred, the division.

[SKIING [P]] PAGE inserts the number of lines corresponding to a pages before displaying the line where he intervened division. The number of lines of a page can be defined by using the command SET PAGESIZE to clause.

NODUP [LICATES] displays the gaps instead of the value of a column specified in the command BREAK if it contains a duplicate value of the column in the preceding line. Option DUP [LICATES] displays the value of a column specified in the command BREAK to each selected line
